Waiting Patiently

Scripture – Matthew 7:6-8: ⁶“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. ⁷“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. ⁸For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) Jesus gives a promise with no time frame. I will receive. I will find. The door will be opened. It just may not happen when I want it to happen. Sometimes, I just give up. I may even convince myself God doesn’t hear me. In this day and age, the concept of delayed gratification is being lost. I can get instant approval for a loan and make no payments for a year or two. So, why wait? I read recently that God may seem slow, but He’s never late. He will give me what I need when I need it.

Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will let that assurance sink in today. With that, I will live in peace.

Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Lord Jesus, you always hear me when I speak to you. You always give me what I need. Please give me your peace today. Slow me down in my expectations. There are many things worth waiting for. Please grant me patience and joy as I wait.
