Waiting Patiently
Scripture – Matthew 7:6-8: 6“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces. 7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) Jesus gives a promise with no time frame. I will receive. I will find. The door will be opened. It just may not happen when I want it to happen. Sometimes, I just give up. I may even convince myself God doesn’t hear me. In this day and age, the concept of delayed gratification is being lost. I can get instant approval for a loan and make no payments for a year or two. So, why wait? I read recently that God may seem slow, but He’s never late. He will give me what I need when I need it.
Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will let that assurance sink in today. With that, I will live in peace.
Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Lord Jesus, you always hear me when I speak to you. You always give me what I need. Please give me your peace today. Slow me down in my expectations. There are many things worth waiting for. Please grant me patience and joy as I wait.
