This New Day

Scripture – Colossians 2:13-15: 13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Observation(Write down what you see in the scripture.) Yesterday, I had a powerful experience of Christ’s grace and forgiveness. The specifics are too personal to share. But in confessing my sin, I was suddenly overwhelmed with a sense of peace. It was clear He forgave my sin and freed me to move forward with no need to keep looking back. That experience still carries me today, along with the message that He has disarmed the powers and authorities that try to keep me captive and under their control.

Application(Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will live today in Christ’s grace and power. In Him I will face anything that comes along, for He is never out of control.

Prayer(Write out a brief prayer.) Lord Jesus, you are so good to me. In you I don’t have to look back. In you guilt loses its hold. In you each day – this day – is fresh and new. Teach me to embrace today, ready for whatever new thing you have in mind.
