The Moreness Within

Scripture – 1 John 3:1-6: ¹How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. ²Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. ³Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. ⁴Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. ⁵But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. ⁶No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) Part of who I am right now includes who I am becoming. Throughout my life I have been blessed beyond measure by God. He, indeed, has “lavished” His love on me. By His grace I am His child. By His grace and power I am becoming more than I am today.

Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I don’t know how I’ll be different at the end of this day – or next week – or next year. I do know, as I keep open to Christ’s transforming presence in my inner being, I will be different. I just don’t know how. I will stay open to Him today.

Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Lord, thank you for your transforming work in my life. As you continue to grow in me, make me a transforming presence in the world. Somehow, Lord, if you will, use me to help another person experience your great love. Continue bringing out the moreness you have placed in me.
