The Journey of a Lifetime

Scripture – 1 John 4:1-3: ¹Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. ²This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, ³but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) This test seems a little too simple. Yet I hear a lot of people make reference to God without acknowledging Jesus. The temptation to political correctness is all around us – even in the church. Today marks a personal spiritual anniversary for me. It was on July 9, 1964 that I consciously and intentionally accepted Christ into my heart and began trusting Him as Savior and Lord. My journey has taken me here and there and back again a couple of different times. In all of that God has remained faithful. And throughout it all I keep coming back to Christ. I’m with Him to stay now.

Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will clearly proclaim that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. In Him, God became a human being. In Him alone I have the hope of life everlasting.

Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Thank you, Lord, for coming into my life. Thank you for parents and a church family that prepared the ground of my heart to receive you. Thank you for never letting me go throughout this journey. Continue, Lord, working and growing within me.
