It's Really Not Hard!

Scripture – James 1:5-8: ⁵If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. ⁶But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ⁷That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; ⁸he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) What simple advice! If I lack wisdom, I need only ask for it from God. It’s not really that hard. What’s crucial is that I trust God to give me the wisdom I need. Sometimes I analyze things too much or think too hard. If I just quietly listen, God does give me what I need.

Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I’ll be careful today not to think too hard. I anticipate several conversations today that call for a certain amount of wisdom on my part. I don’t know where these conversations will lead. I will trust Christ to give me all that I need.

Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Thank you very much, Lord, for hearing and responding when I ask for your help. I’m sorry for the times I confuse things by over-thinking. Give me an open ear and a clear mind today. Guide me, please, in all my conversations.
