It's Really Not Hard!

Scripture – James 1:5-8: 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Observation(Write down what you see in the scripture.) What simple advice! If I lack wisdom, I need only ask for it from God. It’s not really that hard. What’s crucial is that I trust God to give me the wisdom I need. Sometimes I analyze things too much or think too hard. If I just quietly listen, God does give me what I need.

Application(Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I’ll be careful today not to think too hard. I anticipate several conversations today that call for a certain amount of wisdom on my part. I don’t know where these conversations will lead. I will trust Christ to give me all that I need.

Prayer(Write out a brief prayer.) Thank you very much, Lord, for hearing and responding when I ask for your help. I’m sorry for the times I confuse things by over-thinking. Give me an open ear and a clear mind today. Guide me, please, in all my conversations.
