Sharing What I Know

Scripture – 1 John 1:1-4: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.

Observation(Write down what you see in the scripture.) The heart of any gospel I proclaim or share is my personal experience of Christ. It’s of little value for me to tell about the experience of other people. John could speak of literally seeing Jesus in the flesh and touching Him with his hands. As I have opened myself to Him and invited Him to take control, I have seen miraculous things happen in my life. I am held by His love and mercy and grace and peace and power. In Him I live with the sure knowledge of eternal life. That puts this period of life in an entirely different perspective. I’m free to live each day in the light of hope – always knowing the best is yet to come. And that I proclaim with confidence.

Application(Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will remember who I am and what Christ has done and is doing in me. I will bring that into conversations as naturally as I can.

Prayer(Write out a brief prayer.) Lord, thank you for what you’ve done and are doing. Help me know when and how to share the good news of your salvation as I speak with people in whatever settings I find myself.
