A Simple Question

Scripture – Genesis 18:10-15: Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?” Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Observation(Write down what you see in the scripture.) God makes a powerful statement through this simple question, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” I often live as though the answer is “Yes.” Like Sarah, I tend to assume there are physical laws of the universe that are unchangeable. Of course she was past the age of childbearing. Of course she could no longer have a child. Everything she knew about life told her that. Yet God’s simple question is asked, and I am reminded to step back and acknowledge the only true answer is “No….nothing is too hard for the Lord.”

Application(Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) Very simply, I will remember that today. Whatever comes along….whatever stretches my faith….I will live as though God can do anything at any time. As I talk with people, pray with and for them, work at my desk, live this day, whatever I do, I will remember.

Prayer(Write out a brief prayer.) Lord, thank you again for your simple question. I’m sorry for the times I limit you in my mind and heart. Open me today to new possibilities – to whatever you have planned this day. Remind me that you are the ultimate power. You are the creator of the physical laws, and you can alter them any time you wish. Indeed, nothing is too hard for you.

sac longchamp I'd like to add that designer handbags are simply wasteful. Why in the hell would anyone want to spend hundreds of dollars on a purse meant to carry lipstick, tampons and a wallet? If you have that kind of money to spend on a freaking purse, then donate that money to a women's charity and buy a cheaper bag for $20-$30 or less. You can also get a bit trendy and recycle ratty jeans into a pretty chic purse if you know how to sew.. More mature and experienced women are able to qualify men in terms of seeing their positive characteristics and weighing them against the negative.
