All Done!

Scripture – John 19:28-30: Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Observation(Write down what you see in the scripture.) What powerful words! On the cross Jesus’ purpose was fulfilled. His sinless life was the offering that covered my sin. How that worked is beyond my comprehension. That it worked is God’s gift of grace. It’s hard to write any more. For everything I need is wrapped up in His final words, “It is finished.” I don’t need to add anything else. He has done it all.

Application(Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will live today with hope because Jesus gave His life for me. I don’t have to add anything. Indeed, I cannot add anything. He has done all that needs doing for eternal life. I will thank Him forever because of that.

Prayer (Write out a brief prayer.) “Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul. Thank you, Lord, for making me whole. Thank you, Lord, for giving to me Thy great salvation, so rich and free.”
