Life Goes On
Scripture – John 11:21-27: “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
Observation – (Write down what you see in the scripture.) This is one powerful reality. This is our hope. Jesus came to teach us and show us death is not the end of life. As long as I keep that faith perspective, everything I experience in this life is affected by it. No matter what happens, life goes on! In Christ, all live. Jesus asked Martha a powerful question: “Do you believe this?” I have been part of many funeral services. Knowing how the person who died answered that question makes all the difference. When it comes down to it, Jesus doesn’t ask for much from us. All we have to do is believe. Maybe that’s too easy.
Application – (Write how you will be different today because of what you have just read.) I will live today in the light of Christ’s resurrection. I will not allow any clouds to cover that light. Lately, there have been some personal things trying to move in and do just that. I will look above them.
Prayer – (Write out a brief prayer.) Lord, today I live with hope because my answer to your question is “Yes!” Thank for saving me. Continue, please, to lift me above the concerns of this world that try to capture my heart’s attention. Help me keep my eyes lifted to you.
